THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL COLLEGES

Turner, et al. v. The American Association of Medical Colleges.  Goldstein, Demchak, Baller, Borgen & Dardarian is co-counsel with Disability Right Advocates and Schneider & Wallace in a class action lawsuit on behalf of individuals with disabilities who challenge the Association of American Medical Colleges' policy and practice of flagging the test scores of individuals with disabilities who have taken the Medical College Admission Test ("MCAT").  This action was tried in the fall of 2006, and on November 2, 2006, the Alameda County Superior Court ruled that the policies used to review requests for disability accommodations on the MCAT are too stringent and do not comply with California's civil rights laws.  In a statement of decision issues on November 2, 2006, the Superior Court ordered the administrator of the exam -- the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) -- to revamp its accommodation review procedure within 60 days.  This case is currently on appeal.
