Cintas
Avalos v. Cintas Corporation, Case No. 06-12311, pending in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (originally filed as
Ramirez v. Cintas Corp., Case No. C04-0281-JSW, in the Northern District of California), makes class claims that Cintas discriminated against female, African American and Hispanic applicants for the position of Service Sales Representative (or driver) at its facilities located throughout the country. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) intervened on behalf of the female applicants. On March 31, 2009, the district court denied the plaintiffs’ motion for class certification. Plaintiffs have sought immediate review from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals of that decision. Plaintiffs’ request for immediate appeal is fully briefed and currently awaiting decision.
