Lennar Corporation
GDBBD, along with co-counsel
Lozeau/Drury LLP and
Law Offices of Andrew L. Packard, are representing the Center for Self-Improvement and Community Development in a citizen suit under Proposition 65 against Lennar Corporation and related entities for generating dust containing asbestos, hexavalent chromium, and other hazardous materials during their construction of housing in Bayview Hunters Point. The Center is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that operates an education and training center for families and children, which is located adjacent to the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Parcel A, the site of Lennar’s construction activities. The complaint alleges that during construction, Lennar has routinely exposed community members and workers to asbestos without warning of that exposure, in violation of Proposition 65, and committed various torts by contaminating Center property.
