Sysco
The firm, along with co-counsel
Hinton Alfert & Sumner, is litigating this class action against Sysco Corporation and two of its California subsidiaries - Sysco San Francisco and Sysco San Diego - on behalf of hundreds of Marketing Associates employed throughout California by Sysco since July 2005. Marketing Associates are Sysco's outside sales force and spend most of their time traveling to customer locations and meeting with customers and prospective customers. The claims in the case are based on Sysco's policy of not reimbursing, or only partially reimbursing, employees for the expenses they incur in driving their personal automobiles and for other work-related expenses incurred in the course of their job duties. These claims are similar to the ones successfully asserted in the
Burdick v. U.S. Foodservice, Inc. case described elsewhere on this website. The Sysco case is in active discovery.
