Ruth McCrane (1929-2002) taught school and did not start to paint until some time after her retirement in 1985.  She created “memory paintings,” highly detailed, colorful paintings that she made based on her life’s memories and experiences, particularly of growing up in Corpus Christi, Texas as in “Party” and “Dancing in the Field.”
